Boyajian Moves On William Boyajian, former president of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), has been named managing director of the World Jewelry Center (WJC), a project funded by real estate company Probity International. The goal of the WJC project is to become a global destination complex for consumer jewelry shopping and a hub for international jewelry and gemstone companies, according to a press release. Probity president and CEO, Robert Zarnegin, believes that the project will attract corporate offices of jewelry and gemstone companies into a 40-story or higher tower located in Union Park, an urban center located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tower would also include a large retail space, a secured area for wholesalers and manufacturers, and exhibits offering consumer education, Zarnegin told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Boyajian will join the WJC effective immediately. “I am delighted to join the World Jewelry Center project and especially to work with my good friend Robert Zarnegin. Upon announcement of my retirement from GIA, Robert approached me to lead what I believe is the most significant jewelry industry project on the globe,” Boyajian said in a press release. Zarnegin’s main objectives are to help international jewelers make a presence in the United States and to offer the right mix of products to the public in order to take advantage of the millions of people who visit Las Vegas each year. The center is scheduled to open for business within four years.
